Yellowknife is a small city with a big-city vibe. Throughout the city, you will find all the normal amenities you would find in any other city. There are a few different grocery shopping options, cell phone providers, big box stores and so on. Generally, Yellowknife has everything a person needs to live a very normal life.

Gas Price
Yellowknife is a strange place when it comes to gas prices. In a place that is as isolated you would expect the prices to fluctuate quite often but for the longest time, it stayed at $1.349. It has now started to fluctuate.
Lately, gas prices have been hovering around $1.599.
What many residents do however is get card-lock accounts. Several petroleum companies in Yellowknife offer these, such as Petro-Canada and Shell.

Having been born and raised in the North and now returning after 20 years but with a family in tow I really appreciate this website, I also follow you on Twitter. This website balances the realities of living in the north vs the south (not that Alberta is a perpetual utopia) in a way that reminds you that people in the North don’t live in igloos and are privy to modern technology, in case you didn’t know. LOL!! Great job on all the updates Kyle. Keep it coming.
Is Ice Lake Rebels filmed here?
Yes, it was.
Is there any place to get my daughter designer (so fake) glasses around here cause I noticed there was no Claire’s or Justice!
Hello,
Yes, Polar Vision downtown across from Boston Pizza, or Family Vision Centre in the Centre Ice Plaza should be able to help you.
