2010 Trade Show – Day 1

Day One was a success for YkOnline.ca at the Trade Show. Last year we were only there as spectators and it has definitely been a fun experience having our own booth. So far we have meet a lot of great people who seemed to receive YkOnline very well. The only things we need to somehow make clear is that we are not YKTrader, nor are we with the City of Yellowknife, but it definitely draws people in.

We were able to get out of our booth for parts of the day to see what was going on throughout the rest of the show. Everyone was excited and energetic to talk about what they were there promoting. We put together this short video with some of the exhibitors we were able to interview throughout the day. We are hoping to get out to more booths again Sunday so stay tuned.

  • I think it's great to see Yellowknife businesses and organizations promote their stuff so that we can all learn about their products and services. I just wish that as a visitor I could take more away from the fair than a reusable bag's worth of paper and pens. I find I just leave with junk that I then have to recycle, because really, am I going to be studying all those pamphlets I received when I get home? Unless they really meet a specific need in my life, I doubt it. I think vendors should be more environmentally conscious in the future. Also, shouldn't there be another way to lure visitors to each booth than simply having them fill out ballots for a prize? This just seems phony to me.
