As Folk on the Rocks 2013 quickly approaches we here at YkOnline.ca are going to spotlight the talent that will be making up this years musical line-up. As we crawl the Internets, we will provide you with a brief description – that we find on Wikipedia – of who they are and one of their music videos – that we find on YouTube. Well, Digawolf needs no introduction, we’ve all come to know and love him over the years, but here is what is on the Internet:
Diga is a Tlicho (Dogrib) word meaning: ‘wolf’
Diga is originally from the Tlicho community of Behchoko (Rae-Edzo) but now resides in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
Diga is a passionate singer/songwriter who performs with great respect for the land, the Tlicho culture and the community Elders. Diga’s music draws inspiration from the earth and exposes the conflicts that arise from the evolution of his native culture and his place in the two worlds that dominate northern life.
Digawolf music is refreshingly honest as every song is an explosion of imagery that takes you on a ride across the Northern landscapes and into the hearts of the people that live there.
