Yesterday morning I made the trek through beautiful Yellowknife, it was sunny and decently warm, to the Elks for their annual craft sale.
I arrived just after 10am, the starting time, and was surprised to find the entire hall packed full of people.
After talking to many people I started to get the feeling that this was not expected. Several people told me they hadn’t seen this many people here in years. Although it was a little crowded I was pleased to hear all this, it was a sure sign of the strength this community has.
It always amazes me the talent of this wonderful city. From handmade clothing to glass sculptures to jams to paintings to ornaments and I could definitely go on.
Around 1pm when I was getting ready to leave I was again surprised how well most of the crafters did. I could see bare tables up and down rows.
If you didn’t get a chance to get to the Elks don’t fret there will be another Craft Sale in 2 weeks time at the Baker Centre (Aven Manor). If you’d like to see all the photos from the craft sale head over to my Flickr Page.
i totally agree about the talent in this city. Honestly, on a per capita basis it’s amazing! I’ve attended 3 of the craft shows so far, scored some awesome loot, and plan to attend the remaining ones for sure. #iloveituphere
