Santas Take Over Yellowknife

At approximately 2:30 pm a cloud of red Santa Suits, complete with the Grinch and one of Santa’s “Little Helpers”, made it’s way down Franklin Street from somewhere around the TD Bank to the front doors of The Salvation Army.  There, approximately 20 Santa’s entered the building bearing gifts of Christmas cookies, cakes, food hamper staples such as pastas and tomato sauces, canned soups, crackers, cereals and school lunch snacks.  A total of eight very full boxes of food given in support of The Salvation Army Food Bank and Emergency Hamper Programs.

When confronted by The Salvation Army staff with questions of who, what and how come the Santa’s joyfully started to sing Christmas carols.  Tis the Season I guess, which is quickly coming upon us, likely sparked this random act of kindness.

Thank you Santa’s for your generosity and giving hearts.

The Santas were also spotted in many other places around Yellowknife. Did you have an encounter with these fine gentlemen?

  • I was having lunch at the Main Street Cafe at noon when the Santas all got off a City of Yellowknife bus. This caused several people to pull out their cell phone cameras and take a pictures. They were handing out red carnations and just made my day. Thank you
