Living in Yellowknife

How to say hello in a tourists language

how-to-say-hello

It was a CBC article comment that got me thinking about all the different cultures that come to Yellowknife to experience what makes the city so spectacular. The great aurora, the endless hiking, fishing, etc.

The comment’s context was that while we do make an effort to develop products for our visitors we should do more as a community to welcome these guests when they arrive. One of those ways is learning how to great someone in another language. In other words, their native language.

Thanks to YouTube, learning how to great someone in an language is as easy as watching a 2 minute video.

Japanese

Mandarin Chinese

Korean

German

French

And just for fun an American guy saying hello with a fake Australian accent.

Have a language you think we should add? Leave us a note in the comments.
