Big City in the Boreal Forest
Price: $100.00 + GST/Per Person
Add-on Lunch: $20.00 + GST/Per Person
Tour length: 3 hours
This tour is perfect for anyone who is coming to scout out Yellowknife before accepting or starting a new job. It is an entertaining and informative way to learn about the City, highlighting life in the “Knife” and all that it has to offer a resident.
The tour begins with a visit to the Mining Heritage Site at Giant Mine and to watch the resident ravens play in the wind. After digging into our mining past, we will head over to the Legislative Assembly where we will break the norms of polite conversation to talk politics, NWT style! As unique as our form of governance, the architecture and the artwork that is housed within its walls also speak volumes about the people of the NWT.
We will carry on to New Town to orient you to services and the basics of life from banks to schools and lay of the land. The tour continues into Yellowknife’s heart, Old Town, to step back in time and visit the area where this town began, see the old buildings nestled next to modern homes, hear the stories and maybe, meet some of the characters.
Throughout the entire tour, we will highlight the benefits, realities, and opportunities beyond the workplace, maybe even teach you how to speak like a local, plus share with you some of the local vernacular.
