This article is a guest post written by Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Deneen Everett. I asked Deneen to expand on these 5 points as many new businesses might not know the benefits of Yellowknife’s local Chamber of Commerce. If you are interested in writing a guest post, contact me here.
You’ve probably heard about the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce, or are at least familiar with some of our initiatives – like the #ShopYK campaign we did in partnership with the City of Yellowknife or our annual Mother’s Day Spring Trade Show. But do you know what we can do for your business?
Here are 5 things we can do for you:
1. Promote Your Business
All of our Chamber members are listed in our online and print business directories. Plus, we get dozens of calls each month asking about local business services and we always recommend Chamber members.
2. Advocate On Your Behalf
We’ve been the voice of business in Yellowknife since 1946. We believe in reducing red-tape and administrative burdens for businesses and encouraging our community to support local businesses by shopping local. See some of our current advocacy work.
3. Educate
We provide educational and professional development opportunities year-round. Recently, we’ve developed a large partnership that allows us to offer financial management, human resource dynamics and marketing courses at a 90% subsidized rate! Each year we offered several free workshops and training opportunities during Small Business Week.
4. Connect
We’ll help you connect with other businesses at one of our many networking events. Join us for lunch and an educational presentation at one of our Business Club Luncheons, or join us for a beer at one of our Business After Hours. We also host our annual Spring Trade Show in May and Business Awards Gala in October.
5. Discounts
Discounts at local businesses through our Member2Member program. And through our partnership with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, we’re able to offer great rates on payment processing machines, insurance plans and many other business services.
We’re dedicated to the Yellowknife business community and our collective voice becomes stronger as our membership grows. Interested in being part of the Chamber movement? Check out our website: www.YKChamber.com or send me an email: ExecutiveDirector@YKChamber.com
