What I AM BETTY is organizing now is an official Download Day leading up to the launch of the full soundtrack at the end of May, which you can preorder here. They are encouraging people to download and share the “Home and Dry” versions on April 23, 2012. You can buy and share them any time you want as well but they are hoping for a big push on the 23rd, which is a Monday for those wondering.

To take part you need to do two thing (or just one but two is better) on April 23, 2012:

And remember 100% of the funds raised from the sales of the song will go directly towards the construction of the home for women and women with children at risk of becoming homeless in Yellowknife.

The first actually launched on Friday. It was the I AM BETTY single “Home and Dry”.  It was released on iTunes for download, so go now! The song is by Stephen Rees and features Marla Signer.

The other release is happening today and it would be the launch of the 7th Heaven (P!nk, Far East Movement and Katy Perry) and High Level (Kelly Clarkson, Nicola Roberts of Girls Aloud and Drive, who are also featured on the “I Am Betty” soundtrack) “Home and Dry” remixes. In addition to getting great music keep in mind that 100% of the funds raised from the limited edition CD will go directly towards the construction of the Betty House, a place for women and women with children at risk of being homeless in the North.

Also coming next month will be the launch of the official “I Am Betty” Album and Remix, which will happen on May 25, 2012.

The Clue You in 2012 Contest got under way today, March 21 2012.

How it works:

Check the Folk on the Rocks Website, Facebook Page or Twitter Account every Wednesday and Friday until April 6, 2012. What you are checking for is a riddle within an image on in these places. This riddle will be made up of a couple of images and a saying.

What you have to do:

All you have to do is correctly answer the riddle. You can do with by downloading this form which is found on the Folk on the Rocks website. Once you make you guesses email it in to admin@folkontherocks.com or drop it off at the Folk on the Rocks office next to the Yellowknife Public Library.

What you might get:

Well if you guess right you will be entered into a draw for two full weekend passes to the festival in July.

The contest is open until April 9, 2012 at 5pm.

The full lineup will be announced April 11, 2012 and the festival will be July 19-22, 2012.

Folk on the Rocks is the topic of episode 8 of Yk Quick Tips. I talk about some general info about this festival.

If you don’t know by now, Folk on the Rocks, is Yellowknife’s biggest Folk Festival. It was started 30 years ago on the shore of Frame Lake and then moved to the shore of Long Lake, where it remains today.

It now has its own properly, still on the shore of Long Lake, just off Highway 3, past the Airport. With in the festival grounds there are 6 stages in total. One main stage, a right and left stage, the beer garden stage, a culture and children’s stage. The Festival is normally over a weekend in July and features over 24 hours of music and entertainment.

When Folk on the Rocks is on, the town becomes alive. There is so much energy just bursting through the streets. Along with what happens at the main site, local bars have pre-shows. Musicians from all across Canada come to play at Folk on the Rocks. Past artist include Tegan & Sara, Sam Roberts and Leila Gilday.
