The 2011 CIBC Run for Our Lives presents: Yellowknife’s First High-Heel Dash!
Instead of the traditional 1, 3, or 5 km Run, this year’s CIBC Run for Our Lives will be a high-heel dash over the lunch hour on Friday, September 30.
Teams and individuals – made up of male and female participants – will challenge each other to see who can raise the most money and complete the dash in the fastest time in high-heels.
When: Friday, September 30, 2011
What Time: 11:45 am – 1:15 pm
Where: Somba K’e Park
Registration: To be eligible for prizes, register on Thursday, September 29, 3 – 6 pm, Scotia Center Boardroom (lower level). Same day registration will be available on site from 9:30 – 10:30 am.
What’s Happening: People can register as an individual or as a team (suggested minimum of 5 people).
For Individuals: Individuals will compete against other individuals to see who can complete the dash in high-heels with the quickest time. Depending on the number of individual registrants, heats may be required. Individuals will only run once, and the individual with the best time will win.
For Teams: Teams will compete after the individuals to see which team can dash the fastest in heels. For the team event, teams will be required to form a single line in their lane and hold on to each other’s waist (forming a caterpillar) as they dash to the finish line. The team with the first person over the line wins. Depending on the number of teams registered, heats may be required. Teams will only compete once, and the team with the best time will win.
Bring your Spirit: All participants, teams and individuals, are encouraged to dress up, bring signs, musical instruments, or other props to help pump them up for a big win.
