Folk on the Rocks 2012 Line-up

The days are getting longer and summer is just around the corner, so it is fitting to announce the 2012 Folk on the Rocks Line-up, which is happening July 19-22.

Inspiration is the theme for this years festival, the phrase “Spark Spur Inspire Stir” has been coined. It can be said that each of the performers this year will be brings something special to the festival, which will have festival-goers feeling inspired about themselves.

The Folk on the Rocks “SPARK SPUR INSPIRE STIR” line-up is extraordinary and audience members will certainly find much to spark their creativity, spur them to action, inspire great works and stir up the passions of the muse. – Folk on the Rocks

Folk on the Rocks 2012 Artist Riddle Contest

We are less than 6 months away from the 2012 Folk on the Rocks music festival, the best festival in the north. Soon the full line up will be announced but first the crew over there at the FOTR office want us to have a little fun.

The Clue You in 2012 Contest got under way today, March 21 2012.

How it works:

Check the Folk on the Rocks Website, Facebook Page or Twitter Account every Wednesday and Friday until April 6, 2012. What you are checking for is a riddle within an image on in these places. This riddle will be made up of a couple of images and a saying.

What you have to do:

All you have to do is correctly answer the riddle. You can do with by downloading this form which is found on the Folk on the Rocks website. Once you make you guesses email it in to admin@folkontherocks.com or drop it off at the Folk on the Rocks office next to the Yellowknife Public Library.

What you might get:

Well if you guess right you will be entered into a draw for two full weekend passes to the festival in July.

The contest is open until April 9, 2012 at 5pm.

The full lineup will be announced April 11, 2012 and the festival will be July 19-22, 2012.

FOTR 2011 Sneak Peak – Fred Penner

Well today Folk on the Rocks has given us a sneak peak as to who will be at the 31st Folk on the Rocks in July. There big name in the release is Mr. Fred Penner. I’m sure those of us who grew up in the 80′s and 90′s can recall Mr. Penner on the tube and in our ears.

Along with Fred Penner will be Luke Doucet & The White Falcon. Luke is Halifax-born, Winnipeg-raised troubadour. You can see more of Luke on his website http://www.lukedoucet.com/

Final thing coming from Folk on the Rocks is an all new way of announcing the 2011 line up called “Clue you in to our 2011 Lineup”. Starting March 28, Monday, they will post a image each week that provides a word puzzle we must figure out. Upon figuring it out, well learn who will be playing at Folk on the Rocks 2011, July 14 – 17.
