Royal Couple Will & Kate visit Yellowknife

Unfortunately due to work reasons I couldn’t be at the event in Somba K’e park today to see the Royals in person for myself. Trust me, I was a little upset. Nevertheless though thanks to a follower who sent photos to info@ykonline.ca I do have some to share.

The evening Will and Kate arrived we were all a little worried they would not get to see the wonderful weather Yellowknife so often has in the summer. Luckily though today did not disappoint the sun was out and it beautiful.

From what I heard through the online streams both Will and Kate were very down to earth people and relatively interested in the North and what we have up here.

Whether you were excited about the Royals coming to town or not, we can’t deny that they has brought our city a large amount of publicity, not just around Canada but around the world. It is almost unbelievable who was watching in and where they were from.

A big shout out has to go to all the people who help put this event on. Politics aside many people put a lot of effort and time to make sure this event went off with out a hitch. Thanks.

Now to the comments. Did you get to shake hands with Will or Kate? What was your reaction to the day?

I was honoured to shake Williams hand – I had brought along a photo of my Grandmother meeting his Grandmother  60 years ago and he commented that it was a nice photos and it was nice that we could meet.  I cant believe how touched I was.

It was a beautiful day! I was lucky to be in the third seated row, so I got some great shots. They’re on my blog here: http://bit.ly/pF53kX. Prince William shook my hand and said good morning, and Kate shook my hand as well. Such a small thing but it makes a world of difference! Also, great comment Janet!
